Robert Thompson works way through wind to lead the Lasco Wilderness Open

Leading the way with a first round 67, Robert Thompson proved that the Wilderness can be tamed. He leads a group of 20 players at even par or better. The field of 53 players was welcomed for a second straight week by stiff winds and hard fast course conditions. The 6800 yard layout proved to be a great test, but it seems the players are growing acustomed to blustery days.

Right behind Thompson are Ron Schroeder and David Lundstrom who carded  a pair of four-under par 68's. With so many players within five strokes of the lead, it is anybody's ball-game headed into the second round. Players can expect more wind, but as they say, Birdies fly in the wind.......
