Steady Rain Spurs 69 from Johnson

As the day began, the potential for a rain out was immenent. But Ledgestone C.C. proved to be as tough as the weather and drained well enough to complete the first round on time.

The 6764 yard par-71 layout proved to be one of the tougher venues on tour this year with a stroke average over 75.20 and only 5 players shooting under par. This didn't stop Mark Johnson from shooting yet another 69 on the UGGOA. Through 8 holes he was 2-under par before bogieing holes 9 and 10. He rallied however on the back and made consecutive birdies on holes #15 and #16 to get back to 2-under par and remain the leader in the clubhouse.

He is followed closely by four players at 1-under par and sets up a dramtic and wet finish as more rain is forecasted for both Thursday and Friday rounds.
